Leckey’s new Comfee Seat wins Double at Irish Design Institute Awards18th April 2013
At Leckey we are very proud of our core values which promote responsibility and integrity, and encourage innovation and passion. We dare to be different so we can make a difference!
Recently our talented young design team worked closely with White Zebra Studios design consultancy in Dublin (http://WhiteZebraStudios.com) to develop the Comfee Seat, a comfortable and supportive alternative to special seating.
We are delighted to announce that prior to its launch, the Comfee Seat has won two major awards at this year’s Irish Design Institute (IDI) Award ceremony including the coveted Universal Design accolade. Universal Design means that products or buildings are inherently accessible to people without disabilities and people with disabilities (http://www.universaldesign.ie/). The concept is based on seven key principles developed by North Carolina State University including being equitable and flexible in use, as well as being simple and intuitive to use (http://www.ncsu.edu/project/design-projedts/udi/).
The judges at the IDI awards also considered the Comfee Seat to be the best in the Furniture category stating, “Functional for users and carers alike, this chair has been carefully considered to provide effective yet understated support in a domestic environment.”
