What time did you wake up at this morning?

I woke at 4am - that's not normal though! I was getting an early flight from London to Hannover to visit our distributor in Germany.

Describe your job in 5 words

Rewarding, fun, stimulating, challenging and varied. 

Where do you spend your day?

Either with families and therapists in the UK and Ireland, or at International events or shows. I also spend time with distribution partners in countries all over the world, and also spend time our our Headquarters in Lisburn, N Ireland.  The rest of the time, I'm usually at the airport or in the air!

What does your job entail?

Delivering the best products and support services to our customers all around the world. I also manage the domestic sales and customer care teams, as well as our global distribution partners. 

What does a typical day involve for you?

There's never a typical day! Today was a flight to Hannover to meet with our major distribution partner for many of the European countries. Afterwards, it was a further meeting with our VIDA German subsidiary in Wiesbaden. A lot of time is also spent on the phone with overseas partners and customers. 

Is it 9-5pm?

Never - calls and mails start from Asia in the early hours and finish from North America late into the evening.

How did you get into this line of work?

I started out as a Product Specialist 18 years ago with a degree in Sports Science & Psychology. I knew very little about the community of exceptional people we work with, before joining Leckey. As part of the interview process, I was sent out with one of the Product Specialists in London and from the very first call I went on, I was hooked and knew that I had to work in this industry. 

What personal qualities are required to do your job?

Dedication, a sense of humour and an eagerness to learn new things. 

What are the biggest challenges in your job?

Managing a large team of people and making sure we give them enough support to flourish. Also identifying the channels to market across different cultures and reimbursement systems. The children and families we work with have the same physical. cognitive and emotional needs no matter where they live in the world - but the way products are funded varies hugely from country to country. 

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing the delight on the face of the kids and their families when using Leckey equipment to help them work, play and have fun! Simple as that!

What is the best piece of advice you could give to a new person joining your team?

Don't upset the boss! More seriously, enjoy every day as each one is different, and every day brings genuine personal rewards. 

What do you do in your spare time?

Walk the dog and provide a private car service for my 15 year old daughter!

Any fun / interesting facts about you?

Very boring really.

What time will you get home at today?

From the current trip - about 11pm!
