Irish Paralympian and our very own Michael Mc Killop is the first male to set the world record at Olympic Stadium.
Michael became the first male althete to set a new world record in the London 2012 Olympic Stadium earlier today (Tuesday 8/5/12).
He ran 3:59.54 minutes in the 1500m at the Visa London Disability Athletics Challenge, easily beating his previous best of 4:14.81.
Michael said "It's nice to be here and breaking a world record. I'm happy to be the first male to do it in the stadium."
Michael was competing in the 80,00 seater Olympic Stadium for the first time ahead of this summer's Paralympic Games. He now starts as the
overwhelming favourite for the 800m and 1500m T37 events at London.
Well done Michael, here at Leckey we are all incredibly proud to sponsor such a brilliant athlete and we can't wait to see you break some more records in the summer!
If you would like to meet Michael and hear more about this race or his training in the run up to the Paralympics he will be attending the Kidz SouthExhibition with us on 14th June in the Rivermead Leisure Complex, Reading.
